Today’s words: dawn – skip – frost
It’s nearing the end of August and the summer months will soon
be behind us.
When we access our weather apps early dawn the temperatures
for the day will have dropped into the 40s, then 30s.
Too soon the frost, the spent flowers followed by unwelcome snow.
I wish I could skip over those winter months – ones I used to enjoy.
There’s something to be said for the adage ‘Too soon we get old’.

hi June. Liked this a lot as it is so true. The darker nights are drawing in now and in just a couple of months we’ll be putting our clocks back. It doesn’t seem that long ago we put them forward!

For me, it’s the opposite! I like winters better than summers, probably because it’s too hot in summer here.

Both seasons have their share of beauty. I dislike the high temps accompanied most days with high humidity. I don’t mind the winter months. I don’t like to shovel snow nor drive on icy roads. Unfortunately the days of kids (even grandkids) shoveling to earn cash are long gone.

You’re so right June that all seasons have their good and not so good points. High temps are harder to tolerate as we grow older.

I couldn’t agree more! Thankfully we are emerging from our southern hemisphere winter, although you wouldn’t think so today, there’s a storm on the way…
