Computer Vision Syndrome

Concerned about the impairment of my short sightedness a.k.a. myopia,
I opted to do a bit of research this morn.

May 2022, I visited my optometrist, and he removed my license restriction.
Testing showed I can see quite fine long distance.

Although he didn’t find any reason to increase the prescription for my reading
glasses I’ve taken note of the effects experienced with usage of the computer,
cell phones and Kindle on my tablet.

At times I’ve found it necessary to utilize a magnifying glass to view the words,
especially if they are grayed out or in fine print.

The results of my findings (after bringing up several sites) spoke of continued
direct exposure to the blue light emitted from LED devices and the damage
it can cause to one’s eyes. Ouch!

Although thankful my eyes aren’t suffering from the list of symptoms stated
in that article, I shall take all info read into account and begin to limit time
spent in Blogosphere.

It’s likely, too I shall delete several apps on my phone and replace usage
via Kindle with paid out-of-pocket paperbacks, a preference of mine which
allows me to highlight and ear-mark pages for future reference.

Although technology has proven quite beneficial, eventually we consumers
discover the somewhat tyrannical portions of constant upgrades, updates,
blinking ads, change of formats, complete change of programs, and issues
we didn’t create followed by a request for payment to repair.

I don’t intend to disappear 100% after auto-renewed for another
year. I’ll pop in from time to time to check on those I consider special
virtual friends, the ones with whom I’ve interacted with the past
several years.

Stay safe and enjoy your summer!!

    1. 100% True ~ my cell phones keep a weekly total of minutes usage. That total is broken down into number of minutes spent on each app. In addition, there’s the laptop and Kindle which I’d have to keep track of myself. Overall, it’s too much. A shame there was no warning about the effects on users’ vision.

  1. I had itching in my eyes in 2021 and that’s when I realise I got glasses.
We used a lot of devices and that’s putting unwanted strain on our eyes. Now, we cannot always reduce the time, but we can do a thing or two to give eyes some relief.
    Take care and best wishes
