Journaling

During December I devoted much time to become

acquainted with myself.

The process wasn’t always easy since I had to admit

my own misgivings and learn how to handle often

awkward situations.

The book I’d chosen was on the Kindle (one I’d have

to return upon completion) and to highlight info

wouldn’t have been feasible plus no archived record

of exercises completed (lists, answers and drawings).

Ah, I opted for a new ‘Happy Thoughts’ journal and

thankful for the additional expense.

New Year’s Day I submitted a 5-star review on the

Goodreads site as I’d participated in the 2021 book

reading challenge.

As luck would have it when I hit the square to post

I received a near blank page telling me ‘an error had

occurred’.

Although I admit this was an annoyance I handled

the situation well. Thankfully the site allowed me to

print out what I’d written. Phew!

It’s much easier to retype work than rewrite it. I

left the computer and chuckled to myself about

starting off year 2022 with a technological glitch.

I perceived what happened that morning with a

healthy attitude.

Yeah me!

Smiles are Contagious

When I arrived at the crossroads of self-assessment, I felt

relieved as though I’d finished another fun aerobics class

or conclusion of one more session with my personal

trainer.

In retrospect I remember my gym days especially due to

the fact my combo instructor – personal trainer was a

loved family member, my youngest son.

Five to six days per week after classes I overheard an

enormous amount of positive chit-chat from women

in the locker room ’bout their favorite instructor.

‘Women of all ages love a handsome man with a good

physique.’

Hilarious to me was how the title role ‘Mom’ had been
given to another with graying hair, an assumption.

Although class participants knew Mom showed up on a

daily basis, they never inquired as to which older woman

was actually the instructor’s mother.

For months my son and I played out this ‘unknown truth’

scenario quite well and then the unexpected happened,

true revelation.

Some ladies were quite embarrassed due to descriptive

adjectives spoken betwixt them in conversations and

thought it necessary to apologize to me.

Smile! Smile!

Reflecting back my thoughts were:

  1. I’m thrilled you ladies love my son.
  2. Your hilarious comments weren’t offensive to me.

We all shared a good laugh!!

Twenty-four years ago he decided to follow his dream.

His move overseas left me filled with mixed emotions.

The past month when amid my exercises on self-love

I learned it was okay to feel both happy and sad about

his relocation.

Some decisions a parent has to often unwillingly accept.

For me acceptance changed to acceptance with gratitude.

New Year – New Me

To those who followed me faithfully I’d like to wish:

Happy New Year 2022!”

During my hiatus I’ve been working on other projects

and learning all about self-love.

Imagine – a bit unbelievable and bit late in game called life.

If you’ve ever taken the time to be 100 percent honest with

yourself, you might be extremely surprised at the outcome.

Today (at least for now) I feel I’m in a much better place

emotionally with fresh new ideas for the year ahead 2022.

For the month of January, I’ve decided to participate

in a new process.

Each day will find me dedicated to completion of ‘one’

additional task.

In 2021 life, (me, myself and I) overwhelmed me and

slowly I was sinking like a ship, drowning in depression.

“Why doesn’t anyone offer to help senior citizens?”

If felt like nobody truly cared anymore. This was reality

not what some would refer to as self-pity especially

since I’d continued to tackle other responsibilities.

A bit bewildered I faced the fact: ‘It was time for change.”

The choice was totally mine.

I paid out-of-pocket for some professional cleaning

services.

On the first morning the woman delegated to help me

brought along her mother (additional help) since she’d

taken her Mom to an appointment earlier.

It seems I was fortunate to have two ladies assist me

and only charged hourly price for one.

A wakeup call that day when the older woman possed

a question to me.

The immediate look of shock on my face resulted in

her quick apology.

It’s certain I asked myself the same prior to being

asked same by a total stranger.

The question has stuck in my mind like an intrusive thought.

Difference is the remembrance triggers me to act with positivity.

So today I’m returning to Blogosphere in hopes to fill up

ALL the days in my January calendar.

The Dreaded Process Xs 2

Three words: decide, commit and repeat

  1. No longer could I live in this manner; it’s unwise and unhealthy.
  2. Reluctantly, I admitted to myself it was time to hire professionals.

30-day challenges ahead:

  1. Social Media Detox
  2. Declutter the apartment
  3. Self-carebudget more time for self

It took me quite awhile to find the proper photo today coupled with toggling
back and forth between block and classic editing.

Unfortunately, my budgeted computer time is about to expire and from past

experience  I’m fully aware:

I’m on my own to continue to clean up a sordid

life mess.

Next post I’ll discuss my feelings on Part1 of this long overdue journey.

Fixed incomes don’t appreciate too many out-of-pocket expenses!!

Lost Late in Life

Five plus years ago when I started this blog I believed in my heart

placing words on paper void of all the personal details would

somehow be beneficial.

To a high degree I found blogging quite therapeutic.

In addition to my own articles I quite enjoyed participating in

daily / weekly prompts plus the interaction from other bloggers.

Yes, I considered myself an official member of Blogosphere.

And then along came the Pandemic . . .

Life became 10 times more difficult – maintain my sanity being ‘alone’,

I managed to keep busy and adapt to all the constant change.

Mid-may I interacted with an individual who was 6 plus months into AA recovery.

A child of an alcoholic I did my best to help – daily affirmations and texting – all

good – all above board = 100 % genuine.

Then either Facebook malfunctioned or said individual made decision no

more interaction (shut down).

It seems I didn’t take this type of rejection too well and best description of

my own feelings about this situation:

‘evolution of near becoming unglued’.

My entire life’s journey started to play out – the good, the bad and the ugly.

Confused, scared and fairly numb (still functional) I sought out reading material

a sudden need for info on what was happening to me so late in life.

It took awhile and then a book appeared – a book written for me – one all

about my sordid dysfunctional life.

The hard part was to admit to myself – like addicts do in the 12-step program.

It seems I’m a ‘Codependent’ and from time to time I’ll write about

the work I’m doing to overcome and hopefully find peace in my life.

You who I tried to help still follow me on here so I’ll say

Thank you” for sending me down a new path which when

I arrive at the finish line should find me in a better place within

my personal life.

No bitter feelings toward you who I considered a friend rather prayers for

continued success on your own day-to-day journey

God Bless!!

Concerns on Acute Depression

Strange how life unfolds

Social media posts paint glorious pictures

People’s days, months, and years happiness

Wow – how fortunate their lives be drama free

And then . . .

There are others who speak the truth – reality

Sadness, daily struggles even need for assistance

Illnesses, losses, days void of socialization, sheer loneliness

Either/or . . .

A reader’s choice to bypass or read, like and comment

Some choose to scroll past, others lament a response

Leaves a contributor food for thought exact share and write

Blogging hiatus

Springtime journey May through August appears

Count blog posts low several whys happens each year

Not lack of topics rather hand of cards life dealt try ignore

A good start . . .

Restart weight-loss program and walking regimen

Occasional stops picture taking architecture ‘n flowers

Back home pics be slideshow edited for Aesthetic videos

And then it happened . . .

The heat, the rain, the high humidity

Unknown reason return pain previous back injury

Life’s positive improvement shutdown in a few minutes

Sinking feeling . . .

When is enough, enough – when does person’s strength wane

Question self if finally coming unglued decade words fix nothing

Alone again face ‘n combat depression and certain not complain

Why?

Found through the years folks on scene when all is well

Same ones flee when person’s life takes a road becomes tough

Minimal show of compassion – lack of empathy – narcissists’ world now.

National French Fries Day – July 13th

Oh dear, I missed the celebration!

I have to admit that it’s difficult to keep up with the times.

Why?

Most calendar days are ‘special’ for something only all are not

considered federal or state holidays.

Today I learned a bunch of fun facts about one of my favorite

fast food items, ‘French fries’.

Although by the nationality name before the ‘fries’ one might

assume their origination was French, their existence was traced

back to the 17th century in Belgium.

They actually were substitutes in the Belgium diet during winter

months for fried fish which was unavailable.

From Europe their popularity spread worldwide.

I wonder why this special day doesn’t claim title ‘International

French Fries Day’.

Today’s most popular fast food item was introduced to the

United States by President Thomas Jefferson.

Americans consume 30 pounds of potatoes per person per year.

(twenty-five percent ‘25%’ made into French fries).

They are served with burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, subs, etc.

Usually fried although sometimes baked different countries refer to

them via distinct names.

US = French fries

French call them ‘pomme frites’.

Belgium = Belgium fries

UK one should ask for an order of ‘Chips’.

Spain refers to them as ‘patatas fritas’.

Some countries call fries ‘finger chips’.

Served with the usual ketchup, salt and vinegar is how I prefer

to enjoy my French fries.

Although the designated day to celebrate French fries has

passed, it’s never too late to indulge in one’s favorite fast food.

Three Day Streak

A new notification ‘never’ seen before . . . . .

Alerted me to the fact I’d posted ‘three’ days in a row.

It’s interesting how all branches of social media keep tabs on you.

We leave a lengthy path of what we do and where we go now fully aware thereof.

I see memories on Facebook of pictures and quotes posted ten plus years ago.

The messenger app when reinstalled surprised me with archived personal and group chats.

History has taken on a brand-new meaning with regard to personal privacy (non-exist).

Google oneself and you’d be quite surprised at the results as all hyperlinks

don’t actually contain truth results.

Who knew the internet would become such a huge filing cabinet when

officially introduced on January 1, 1983.

Word of the Day: Telephone

Time changes.

Either we adapt or we fall behind.

Technology is constantly changing which requires learning the new stuff.

Today cell phones are everywhere – rings and dings for older folk a nightmare.

I sure wish I could turn back time and carry on a conversation without interruptions.

What happened to actual human interaction? Why is everyday life now complicated?

Questions. questions and more questions.

Gone are the days we could sit quietly with our princess phone or prepare our meals

while chatting with a friend thanks to an extra-long phone cord attached to our

wall phone.

Today we carry around our phones. They are onboard everywhere we choose to visit.

Unless we shut them off, there is little peace from them and all those unwanted

incoming texts, calls and voicemails not to mention the monthly bill.

Besides the annoyances described above is the actual panic when one can’t locate

their phone.

It’s near impossible if turned off and of course there’s the issue with battery drain.

I realize many folk from younger generations don’t share these views with regard

to telephones.

Would they change their minds? Doubtful.

One wish I can never has is to turn back time. I can remember though the days

when life was simple and we didn’t live in fear of answering our telephone(s).
