Tooting My Own Horn Today đŸ˜Š

Tis a bit out of character for me to boast about anything until I considered ‘why
not’ ~ people do it every day on social media via uploading photos and videos of
their ‘happiest’ moments.

Few people know much about me. There are personal reasons I keep my life
private. The penned poetry I post is done in a manner for the reader to think,
guess and form ‘their’ own opinion.

On a whim toward the end of April (Poetry month) I placed an entry into a
Poetry contest held at my local library.

The first surprise for me was seeing my poem linked in on various websites.
A few weeks later I received a beautiful card with the monetary gift certificate
and words of congratulations.

I consider this a turning point (an honor) within the writing -poetry community.
It fueled my desire to go forth in hopes to attain the last goal I’d set for myself.

With the assistance of an already published author I met during my tenure on
WP I now have knowledge of what it takes to get a book published.

1. It sometimes pays to take a chance; you’ll never win if you fail to try.
2. It’s okay to ask for help rather than try to DIY. Some individuals are
wonderful humans = NICE.

Computer Vision Syndrome

Concerned about the impairment of my short sightedness a.k.a. myopia,
I opted to do a bit of research this morn.

May 2022, I visited my optometrist, and he removed my license restriction.
Testing showed I can see quite fine long distance.

Although he didn’t find any reason to increase the prescription for my reading
glasses I’ve taken note of the effects experienced with usage of the computer,
cell phones and Kindle on my tablet.

At times I’ve found it necessary to utilize a magnifying glass to view the words,
especially if they are grayed out or in fine print.

The results of my findings (after bringing up several sites) spoke of continued
direct exposure to the blue light emitted from LED devices and the damage
it can cause to one’s eyes. Ouch!

Although thankful my eyes aren’t suffering from the list of symptoms stated
in that article, I shall take all info read into account and begin to limit time
spent in Blogosphere.

It’s likely, too I shall delete several apps on my phone and replace usage
via Kindle with paid out-of-pocket paperbacks, a preference of mine which
allows me to highlight and ear-mark pages for future reference.

Although technology has proven quite beneficial, eventually we consumers
discover the somewhat tyrannical portions of constant upgrades, updates,
blinking ads, change of formats, complete change of programs, and issues
we didn’t create followed by a request for payment to repair.

I don’t intend to disappear 100% after auto-renewed for another
year. I’ll pop in from time to time to check on those I consider special
virtual friends, the ones with whom I’ve interacted with the past
several years.

Stay safe and enjoy your summer!!

News Article of Concern Read Earlier This Morn

Prior to breakfast a news article from a reputable source peaked my interest.

I was shocked!!

This article was the first one I’d read on the topic of the Covid-19 vaccines

failure to produce antibodies to those taking immunosuppressive medications.

Following are a few notes ‘not verbatim’ rather hits or miss jots of information.

To me they are a major concern since I’ve been under treatment for two

of the top 10 out of 100 on the list – one for near a decade.

I’d no prior information on the topic read; however, I did note studies have

been in progress for average time period of three months.

Written was how “Millions of Americans might not have adequate response

to the vaccine.”

Unbelievable!

A few actual case histories were discussed in length.

Imagine a person taking the two-dose Pfizer’s vaccine plus one dose J & J and

results of their lab blood work showed ‘no detectable’ antibodies.

The reports were from major sources and top hospitals so undoubtedly this read

wasn’t one of fake news nature.

The last few months I stopped allowing my good morning mood soon turn into a

bad one after accessing and trying to make sense of all the negative news

found on social media..

Perhaps I’d miss prior info. I’ll never know.

A statement of interest was how now
since the above discovery the major

agencies are advising people against checking for antibodies while a

minimal amount of people ‘so fearful’ entered into unchartered territory and

opted to get an extra supplement.

In my locale masks are no longer required in most places and as hideous as it

sounds it appears we’re operating on an ‘honor’ system.

New Year’s Resolution 2021

As each year begins people everywhere make countless well-intentioned

resolutions.

Some are the same old ones and others brand new.

A member of the women’s club to which I belong had a new suggestion – one

ne’er seen, heard of nor thought about before.

She came up with a brand-new idea – ‘What to NEVER’ do again.

Creation of an “ANTI-BUCKET LIST’.

Thus rather than create a list of resolutions (most which doubtful most continue

for a lengthy period of time) let’s create a list of not-to-dos.

We ladies thought our friend’s idea (although different) was both interesting and

doable.

Now tis time to think of Top 10s.

Hoping my list will create lots of chuckles.

I can’t wait for we ladies to share our thoughts.

Laughing out loud as I type this – already idea good for the soul.
