Today’s prompt word: ring

Cell phone conversation – fictitious name . . .

Me: ‘Hello’
Crista: ‘Hi, how are you?’

Me: ‘With whom am I speaking?
Crista: ‘It’s your friend, Crista.’

Passing thought = OH!

Me: ‘Sorry I didn’t recognize your voice.’ -‘I’m doing okay.’ – ‘And how are you?’

Crista: ‘My days are so busy.’ – ‘I keep meaning to ring your number then it’s too

late to call.’

Passing thought = REALLY!

A short conversation – my new practice for long overdue callers – 10 minutes max.

Me: ‘Sorry to cut our catching up short – there’s an incoming call on my

other cell phone.’

Crista: ‘Okay, let’s stay in contact.’

Passing thought: I WOULDN’T COUNT ON IT.

The above is how I feel towards the few who were part of my face-to-face life for

25 to 35 years who fail to call then feeling guilty contact me with what I consider

a fake explanation.

You promised you’d be there for me. Remember?? Then you disappeared

from my life.

If I call you I can count on leaving a voice message and if lucky a return call in 3 to 4

There are many sayings to read with regard on how you allow others to treat you.

Interesting though people dislike when you give them a taste of their own

No, I haven’t heard from Crista in over two years and I refuse to call her since it was

always I who took the initiative.

I doubt I’m mistaken about the definition of friendship being a two-way street.

I’m certain though there’ll be a Christmas card in my mailbox again this year.

Sorry, the intended recipient will place it unopened in the trash same as year 2019.

It was nice knowing you – how quickly people forget promises to another who fell

on hard times.

Today’s prompt word: trick

Yesterday my eyes played a hilarious trick on me.

I scanned the reminder post and wrote down the words: ‘have fun’.

Nobody likes to read depressing posts and to myself I thought what’s going to be fun

about Halloween 2020.

Earlier today I checked to find fellow bloggers writing about the word ‘trick‘.

How did I not see the correct prompt?

Scrolled too fast ~~ PERHAPS ~~ I laughed at myself.

The realization my desire to write energizer bunny battery had been stuck on low

percentage several days coupled with this IMO hilarious error the idiom

‘took the cake’ crossed my mind.

I’ve been questioning myself ’bout lots of personal stuff this week as how to

Asked the question ‘why don’t I blog for money’ was posed to me by a family

Likely there’s videos on YouTube with suggestions only I didn’t bother to research

Originally I had a goal to publish only midway through I quit due to lack of fictional

content and funds.

One could say, ‘I beat myself up about a goal unfinished which is not nor ever has

been my style’.

I knew I was tired from all the lifestyle changes, the missed opportunities and

most recent the lack of socialization due to the ongoing health crisis.

When you are going through a rough patch or having a bad day, you discover real

friends who encourage you.

For them I’m most grateful (you know who you are) and I send you all a ‘Blessed

Thank you’.

Back to the publishing idea and an international group I belong to on Facebook

Tis like my mind played a ‘don’t feel so bad for yourself’ trick when I accessed

the group after weeks away.

Yesterday’s question posed to the group was in regard to the length of time to

write, edit and actually publish a book.

I was in awe at the responses which ranged from 6 months for a children’s book

to a number of years with one never publishing their book.

The most hilarious answer I read: “My first book took a ‘year’ to write then I hid

it in the cupboard for ‘5 years

Pondering the thought – what led me to the group this Halloween – another mind

On a positive note, perhaps this was more of a treat to help me get back on track.

Today’s prompt: medicine

The Runaround

A call to the pharmacy for a refill for one’s medicine is answered by a menu followed

by the caller pressing the proper number for his/her need(s).

Automated systems often promise a person their medicine refill at a certain

date and time.

So far – so good.

Talk about a runaround this week

1. I drove to the pharmacy and stood in line then told medicine not available.

2 . Two days later the automated system stated still ‘working on it’.

3. Several days later I learned this medicine was on backorder.

4. Frustrated, I called another pharmacy – ‘yes’ that medicine was in stock.

5. I contacted the doctor’s office and explained the situation.

6. In record time I received an incoming call from the second pharmacy

and as luck would have it missed the call and there was no voice message

7. Another call the second pharmacy left me in awe as I was told by an actual human

the medicine refill was placed on hold since my prescription had been filled ‘six’ days

earlier and billed to my insurance company.

The irony: obtaining a refill for my anxiety medicine created more anxiety for me.

Today’s prompt: misspelled word(s)

Auto correct is a great feature until one writes an English word in French. I tend to place

an extra ‘e’ at the end of words or a ‘u’ within which will automatically place a red line

to alert me that I have typed in my second language.

Examples: colorful – colourful / popular – populaire

You may not see the red correction line – I do though and I can either choose to let it go

with the French spelling or correct it back to English.
