JusJoJan2023 ~ Day 20

today’s prompt:  ‘phantom’
When I first set up my blog I chose the ‘Hens & Chicken’ theme.
Thoughts of oldest daughter (RIP) played a part in that decision.
One day she’d brought home a school project, a Hens & Chicken
cactus which flourished and produced little offset plantlets around
the perimeter of the hen.
These plantlets a.k.a. chicks could be snapped off and replanted
elsewhere.
The start of this particular succulent family, a gift for Mom, was
the beginning of many families gifted to others.
Six years into blogging I thought about revamping my blog and
adding a new theme.
My new chosen picture was stored in my cell phone for usage
at a later date.
Access day was a moment of disbelief. How did this happen?
No other picture similar surrounded this one thus not the result of
double exposure.
Was this a sign not to change the original theme?
Am I a superstitious person?
Along with this for a period of time I experienced what are referred
to as visitation dreams.
Although my daughter never appeared in these extremely bothersome
nightmares I wondered if some phantom from the past was sending
me a message.
What do you think? Any ideas what happened to my original picture?

JusJoJan2023 ~ Day 19

today’s prompt ‘complaint’

I don’t wish to compile a lengthy list of complaints, so I’ll share just one.

Another winter storm is brewing ~ ugh.
Ole grannie needs to purchase more bottled water.
I’m thankful I’m still able to walk to the local corner
convenience store.
A regular customer you’d think the clerks would remember
my frequent request to double bag my selections, reinforcements.
Those plastic bags, clumsy and super thin, tear easily.
I don’t wish for my bottled water and sport drinks to slip through a hole.
This morn the gal remembered to double bag my items only she placed
ALL of them together.
What was she thinking?
I don’t bear any resemblance to Hercules.

Today’s prompt: prepare

Days prior to Blizzard 2022
People started to make preparations.
Supermarkets with overflowing shopping carts
Lines at the gas pumps

Prepare, Prepare, Prepare
Yes, I did my groceries ahead of the crowd.
Yes, I put the now overpriced gasoline in my vehicle.
Yes, I placed all trash in the hopper.
All to do was sit and wait out the storm.

Yesterday the day of the storm
The power went out ~ apartment near total darkness
Luckily, I’d had my hot tea beverage prior to outage.
When I accessed my portable radio, I found no sound.
And ‘C’ batteries which it required were not in the drawer.

It reminded me of when I go shopping without a list, it’s
inevitable I forget at least one item.
Lesson learned: check ALL for correct size batteries.

Today’s word prompt: looking

The past few days I’ve been looking for opportunities to supplement

my income.

I was flabbergasted when I read about the success of a 19-year-old

who currently is earning big bucks from a crafts business she started

little over a year ago.

Yes, twas hard for me to comprehend since during my tenure of life

I’d dabbled in the same Hobbie.

Bravo to the young lady from the UK!!

Me? I shall continue looking and conduct research in hopes of a

last chance at success.
