Prompt: questions and answers with regard to DST (Daylight Savings Time)

Do you live in an area that participates in Daylight Savings Time?
Ans: Yes, I do.

Are you glad to live where you do or do you wish you lived somewhere that does
the opposite in regards to DST?

Ans: I’m okay with the what’s known as ‘fall back and spring forward’ – losing or
gaining an hour of daylight.

If correct the state of Arizona doesn’t observe DST and I’d choose to live there due
to discomfort from high humidity in my state (whole different topic).

If my state were to abolish DST would I rather stick to Standard Time (autumn
and winter) or leave DST (spring and summer) in place all year?

Ans: I’ve grown accustomed through the years to the time changeover pattern.
I wonder if it would be a welcome change as the darkness of night passes at a
snail’s pace.

Truthful Tuesday – October 13th 2020

Today’s question: What New Year Traditions, if any, do you observe and will the
current state of things have any bearing on those traditions this coming year?

Thru the years traditions changed from festive parties to outdoor celebrations

reference ‘First Night’ with its huge selection of entertainment, amazing

finely-carved ice sculptures and grand finale display of beautiful fireworks.

As children left the nest a few couples gathered at my countryside home to

partake in a delicious Surf ‘n Turf extravaganza. Following the meal we’d

sit by the fireside chit-chatting sipping champagne awaiting the ball to

drop at Times Square ringing in the New Year.

Nice memories!!

All the above was replaced years later due to age and circumstances.

If fortunate we older folks managed to stay awake until 12:00 a.m.

I guess the one big change is this year I likely will spend the holidays alone.

Virtual replacement is no match for real-life celebrations.

Today’s question: “Has this pandemic altered your holiday plans for later this year,
or will it be ‘business as usual’?”

Personally I think taking ‘The Path of Least Resistance’ with regards to the future
of the most horrific year I’ve experienced within my lifetime is a good option as
news articles are wrought with grim tales.

I’ve given up hope for future positive changes the last quarter of year 2020.
This dismal thought pattern rings true throughout the community of we older folk.

I suppose some families will adapt in order to celebrate with the question of
safety lurking in their minds.

Few restaurants offer inside eating at this time thus a hindrance for
those who wish not to cook their own feasts. Take-out meals for these
holidays will likely be on the expensive side.

Tis doubtful I’ll patronize local department stores as already I dislike ‘The
Twilight Zone’ seen at the supermarkets. Thus the alternative is to shop online
which for me takes more time than hands-on shopping at retail stores.

As for a family dinner which to date hasn’t been a topic of discussion I feel
there will be less attendees.

Overall, it’s a most sad state of affairs especially for families with children
who’ve been forced into a whirlwind life of upheaval
.

I rather doubt there’ll be the usual pattern of celebrations during either
of the two holidays in question.

All we can do is continue to pray and take one-day-at-a-time until life
returns to normal.

Prompt: Questions ’bout Halloween

What are my thoughts on trick-or-treating this year?

In my locale yearly door-to-door trick-or-treating has slowly declined
due to children’s safety issues. Any parent who would even consider
participation in this once-upon-a-time fun tradition during a medical

crisis, thereby placing their child in more potential danger, needs their
head examined. (politely stated)

Should Halloween be cancelled or should it go on as normal?

There is nothing normal ’bout these present times; however, I don’t
feel this holiday nor others ahead should be cancelled. Families can

adapt how they celebrate the special day with their creativity while
remaining in their own homes.

Truthful Tuesday: September 22nd, 2020

Today’s four questions deal with personal food preferences, decision where best
to dine and who in the household is the designated cook.

Since I am a divorcee following a 35-year marriage I’ve decided the best responses
would be those while holding the title ‘Mrs.’

Are you an adventurous eater, or do you prefer to play it safe when you’re
feeling peckish?

Answer: At an early age I became good friends with ‘The Betty Crocker Cookbook’
and loved to try new recipes (especially desserts).

Do you prefer dining in or dining out?

Answer: I enjoyed dining out (a treat – Saturday date night).

When you dine in, who does the cooking?

Answer: Ninety percent of the time, I was the one who prepared meals.
Barbecue grilling was my partner’s specialty along with a few tasty dishes
he prepared without use of any recipe.

When you dine out, do you tend to stick to places you know, or do you look
for new places to try?

Memory Lane: We had our favorite restaurants plus on occasion ‘yes’
did opt to try a new one – usually a well-recommended establishment
which had a good rating in categories of food quality plus quantity
and known for their excellent service.

2. Do you believe in ‘happily ever after’ in today’s world?

3. Which do you prefer a. Kindle reader –  b. old fashioned newspaper?

4. During a visit to your home what ‘one’ item would most surprise me?

5. Do you prefer to utilize daily prompts, enter in monthly challenges or
write whatever you choose?

6. Are you a video game player?

7. Do you find interaction with ‘virtual’ friends to be a positive,
negative or mixed-feelings experience?

8. In recent years have you dabbled in new hobbies – some which may

9. Do you compare yourself to others or continue to be happy with who

10. In a supermarket do you prefer to utilize the self-checkout stations?

11. Are you pro or con with regard to home schooling?

Ah, the questions I scribbled on note paper at 2:25 a.m. have now been typed for you.

I have ‘two’ slight problems though.

1. Some of the bloggers you nominated are in the same circle as mine ‘blogging
friends’. Does the original host wish each of us to nominate different bloggers?

2. I have to learn how to create a hyperlink – imagine! I did read instructions prior
to accessing my site. Perhaps one of our friends can be of assistance here. Thank
you in advance.

Much Love . . . June

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello fellow Bloggers . . .

I thank Sadje over at ‘Keepitalive’ for nominating me for this award.

This morning after more than a week’s hiatus from writing I found the invite in

my notifications.

Her questions were as follows:

1. What is your favorite time of the day?
Ans: I enjoy the afternoon as it’s time to relax a bit before prepping dinner for one.

2.  How strict are you with yourself, regarding health?
Ans: At present my exercise regimen is now revamped for my age and I continue
to eat more healthy foods rather than junk food.

3. Do you follow back a blogger who follows you?
Ans: I make a sincere attempt unless the blogger’s posts are biased or contents
hold little interest.
Bloggers I’ve befriended are ones who write posts on topics I enjoy reading.
NOTE: On occasion I found and followed some who didn’t reciprocate in follow back.

4. How do you deal with criticism in real life?
Ans: I listen, reflect on what was said to me or about me and refuse to indulge
in argumentative differences of opinion; however, I have been known to speak
my mind on occasion.

5. How do you deal with criticism in the blogging world?
Ans: I don’t mind constructive criticism; however, I consider my blog ‘mine’.
If a person has nothing nice to comment than I think it best the person move
along to read another’s post (no need to be rude).

6. Any ideas about how we can turn the current situation to our advantage?
Ans: Presently where I reside this Monday was Phase 1 of reopening the state.
The media has made us aware of facts and created an overabundance of fear
these past few months.
I dislike the new norm but will abide by rules for safety of myself and others.

7. Are you a dessert person?
Ans: Yes, dessert was always served after family dinners. In recent years
I don’t always partake as much nor bake all those high-calorie cakes, pies
and special desserts.

8. What colors do you like to wear?
Ans: Pastels (orchid and pink) – prefer fabric with small prints

9. What color décor do you like around you, in your home?
Ans: Soft colors rather than brights

10. What is your favorite place to write from?
Ans: I do most of my writing on the laptop located on the computer desk.

11. Do you like getting blogging awards?
Ans: I think ‘yes’ since most people like to feel appreciated and enjoy the
recognition. Also I think the awards should be designated for those who
deserve them (not a friend-to-friend basis).

Thank you Sadje for  nominating me. I appreciate your kindness.

As I have to sign-off shortly to attend a Webinar I shall post the logo

as directed and think of whom to nominate plus 11 new questions

overnight.

Today’s questions

  1. Pancakes, waffles or French toast as your breakfast favorite?
Preference home-made pancakes – frozen Belgian or Buttermilk waffles 2nd
  2.  Do you think a person’s name influences who they become?
A thought-proving question! Answer depends on how extraordinaire
the name and person’s life’s circumstances.
  3.  Would things get better or worse if humans focused on what was going
well rather than what’s going wrong?
Sensationalism sells (learned in Journalism class).
I believe people should remain aware of situations and refrain from
embellishing on them or constantly pointing fingers.
After all, no individual is perfect.

  4. Is math something humans created or something discovered? Is looking at
reality mathematically an accurate representation of how things work?
It appears by all accounts that cavemen invented the usage of math through
artwork – so different than math we learned and use in today’s world.
Math definitely is a necessary component in all areas of record keeping.
  5.  Gratitude – what are you grateful for right now?
I am thankful for the simple joys of life, the capability to survive in crisis,
wisdom learned thru experience and memories shared throughout the
years with loved ones near and far.
