Six Sentence Stories ~ June 9th

prompt word: key

Tackling a challenge as if back in high school, in the early morning hours while
the majority of folks are fast asleep I accessed my cell phone and asked Google
a question.

I wanted to know which of the 104 keys on a laptop keyboard is used the least
in today’s world of technology.

Fifteen to twenty minutes later, after scanning numerous articles, I actually
found the answer, ‘the scroll lock key’, one I can’t recall usage thereof on any
computer.

Closely following in routine typing are keys ‘pause break’, tilde/squiggly (~),
cap lock, menu, insert and function keys (F12 – F2 – F3 – F6 – F7 and F9) listed
in downward ranking of popularity.

When I came across an article titled ‘3 Secret Keyboard Keys Every Computer
User Should Know’ my cell phone battery now drained and icon showing red
forced me to call it quits.

I don’t know if I’m just a curious soul who continually likes to learn, a fan of the
game show ‘Jeopardy’ or the man upstairs wants me to continue down the path
where the key to success is determination.

JusJoJan ~ Jan 20th

Today’s word prompt: looking

The past few days I’ve been looking for opportunities to supplement

my income.

I was flabbergasted when I read about the success of a 19-year-old

who currently is earning big bucks from a crafts business she started

little over a year ago.

Yes, twas hard for me to comprehend since during my tenure of life

I’d dabbled in the same Hobbie.

Bravo to the young lady from the UK!!

Me? I shall continue looking and conduct research in hopes of a

last chance at success.

Qualities of a Good Writer

I find it absolutely amazing how one’s mind wanders throughout the day.

Take for instance this morning my desire to participate in a prompt challenge

became sidetracked, dissuaded when finally I found the correct pingback only

site stated ‘not secure’.

That worded notification to me automatically became a ‘red’ flag.

A much worse case scenario would be my anti-virus software showing a

large red-bordered circle telling me ‘not safe’ which translates to quickly

get off.

Since I awoke to freezing temperatures and found myself with ample time

before an appointment I chose to write – offer up a blog contribution today.

All was not lost as my mind wandered to a totally different direction.

Question ahead faced: “What are the qualities of a good writer?”

Time to research a bit on the web.

In essence I was quite pleased by the one and only article I read, absorbing

the contents while taking notes and hanging onto every word.

The writer broke it down into ‘six’ categories.

Attention to detail was the first quality addressed and ‘yes’ I passed as

I’m constantly observing and taking notes (mental and hand-written).

Discipline was next on the list with reference to frustration in regard

to rewrites, edits and improvements.

Although setting a time schedule for writing was not inclusive it’s
a

well-known fact – one I need to address.

Clarity, strong vocabulary and open to changes are all areas of

writing I’m both familiar with and practiced since the start of my

blogging journey a little over five years ago.

The last category on the list was ‘passion for reading’ and to be

honest with myself I believe I need to prioritize more as we learn

so much from reading another’s works.

I’m extremely thankful my mind directed me elsewhere and now

it’s time to proofread before I publish today’s post while arguing

with the newest writing foe ‘the block editor’.

Feeling Similar to a Wallflower at a Dance

Today I did a little research – reviewed statistics and facts.

Two years submitting blog posts and the occasional hiatus with good reason.

It’s difficult to understand how a person with thousands of fans winds up with only a few likes. How is this possible?

In my profession this retiree – a full-charge bookkeeper – had to balance the books each month.

There appears to be something amiss with the numerical figures I witness when accessing blogs.

Humans by nature compare – quality versus quantity.

Although I’ve touched on topics pertaining to my personal life,  I refrain from offering up all the embed details.

Where do I fit in? I ask myself that question.

Not a prude by nature; however, I refuse to write trash.

It’s becoming more apparent (similar to the dating world) the genuine nice man or woman isn’t in demand.

Life hasn’t always been easy and no desire to write about all the dirty laundry – saving that for an actual book.

To those who have befriended me I say “Thank You” – to others well it would have been nice to have known you.

Maybe the next two years will be different – new content – always hope – remain positive in thought – healthy mind.

I shall sit alone with my thoughts as how to progress – continue blogging – hoping for more interaction and more fans.

The other option is return to my favorite past-time for decades where at the end of the day each step moving forward gave me great satisfaction.

Time is precious! I don’t wish to waste it! – I tried my best! The future awaits! God Bless!
