Throwback Thursday #42 ~ Your Relationship with Money

https://lssattitudeofgratitude.wordpress.com/

Questions and Answers:

Q: At what age do you remember handling your own money?
A: In my mid-teens

Q. Did you have a piggy bank to add coins to?
A. No

Q. Did you get an allowance and/or paid for chores?
A. No

Q. How did you earn money for things you wanted?
A. I bummed money off my friends until I started a PT job junior year of high school.

Q. Did you have jobs outside your house to earn money? What did you do?
A. I was helpful to friends’ parents who were nice enough (invited me for lunch and
included me in activities).

Q. Were you more of a saver or spender as a kid?
A. Neither, since I didn’t have access to cash.

Q. Were you aware of the financial situation your parents were raising you in?
A. Yes, my father was an alcoholic who saved enough cash to pay bills and drank
away the remainder of his paycheck.

Q. Did you know the difference between needs and wants when it came to asking
your parents for things?
A. In my early teens I learned = if I wanted anything other than the bare necessities
of life I’d best head for the corner barroom Friday nights and ask for some cash. It
was a most unpleasurable experience.

Q. Did you ever ‘save up’ for a special item that you wanted? What was it?
A. I used to paste green stamps in books and go to the redemption store where I
found a few items (globe – toaster – horseshoe lamp).

Q. Did you have a savings account as a child?
A. No, heck I was stopped from charging a ‘one-penny’ Bazooka bubble gum at the
grocery store that delivered the standing order of canned goods weekly.

Q. Was there anything you routinely spent your own money on when growing up?
A. Once I became a part-time employee, I’d order a vanilla frappe and 3 jelly donuts
for breakfast at the local variety store Monday thru Friday.

Scrolling up I view the truth of a dysfunctional childhood (no sugar-coating).

Being poor is far from the norm as you are bullied and ridiculed even if you are a
smart ‘Go to the Head of the Class’ student.

Six Sentence Stories

Prompt: rambunctious

https://girlieontheedge1.wordpress.com/2022/02/13/sundays-six-sentence-story-word-prompt-199/

Weary from constant winter storms this morn I decided to embark on a

picturesque virtual vacation.

To intake views of two French speaking countries, immerse within them

enjoying both culture and spoken language, is to fancy a pipe dream.

An hour past noon and I think perhaps I’m experiencing imaginary jet

lag.

Curious to know if such a condition exists, I journeyed over to pay

Google search engine a short visit.

The results of typing in the following question, “Can a person suffer jet

lag following a virtual vacation?” left me with discovery of ‘social jet lag’,

teenage behavior where a teen stays up way past bedtime and attempts

to recoup lost hours of sleep thru napping the next day.

As I read twice over the list of symptoms, in addition to lack of sleep. the

realization set in AGAIN, opposite of the once rambunctious woman, is

the gal who suffers from chronic depression.

Today’s prompt:  ‘fortune’

Many humans associate the word fortune with

financial wealth.

During employment years I worked alongside many

white-stuffed shirts (snobbish individuals) who thought

blue-collar workers (ones they repeatedly called for

assistance) were a class beneath them.

I’m thankful I am who I am and today look in the mirror

knowing I never looked down on nor categorized anyone

less fortunate than I.

To me knowledge is wealth (fortune) which used wisely lasts

a lifetime and lacks price tags.

99 Words Story ~ Anxious Me

This week’s challenge ~ write a story in 99 words ‘exact’ . . .
Inclusive ‘anxiety’ – who has it – what is source – any conflict – how

to use it beneficially

https://carrotranch.com/2022/02/06/february-7-story-challenge-in-99-words/

A child of an undiagnosed mother with mental issues faces a huge

hurdle to overcome a life void of love and move forward in a positive

manner and create the opposite of a dysfunctional lifestyle.

In all aspects I did my ultimate best NOT to follow in her footsteps.

At age twenty-one I gave birth to a stillborn son (already deceased

two weeks) due to RH Negative blood factor.

The unbelievable aftermath, a major reason for seeking counseling,

would follow me and replay again with death of another child and

divorce.

Believe me ‘anxiety,’ real – no laughing matter.

In the wee a.m. hours of a new day, unable to sleep, I tend to play in the Garden.

Above is an image of the In Memory Garden I created on the Fairyland App on Facebook.

Its age is 12 years and 3 months.

Plants are seasonal. At present it shows the Rainforest theme.

A flame constantly burns in memory of my dearly departed daughter who’ll forever be

twenty-eight years young.

On the side you’ll see peace doves, a symbol of everlasting love, R.I.P. TuffiMcGuffi.
